Week 9

This week was awesome. On Friday night we held a BBQ at a home in Elbason and had hamburgers and hot dogs. We also were able to stay the night because otherwise we would have had to have left by 6 in the evening to catch the last buses to our sites. Then on Sunday two of our language coordinators gave us a historical tour of Elbason. There is a large castle in the middle of Elbason and we ended our tour there at a café in the middle. Elbason was the first city in Albania to declare independence from the Ottoman Empire. Then on Tuesday we had our spelling bee. We had 36 students participate and around 50 people came to watch. That is a great turnout. The first pic is the only pic of the 4 of us together at the bee and the second is of microphone check. All students got a chance to practice with the microphone and many had never done it before. The last pics are of the finalists and the winner. The pics are a little out of order. Next week is my last language class. I will also go to Tirana and eat some good food. On Wednesday I will meet my counterpart from Berat and then go with her to Berat for 3 days.
